Congratulations to The Banana Council: Winners of the K12 Minecraft Education Build Challenge!

We’re thrilled to announce that the moment you’ve all been waiting for has arrived! The team, The Banana Council, comprising the brilliant young minds of Collin B., Emily C., Matthew I., Max B., and Noah E.M. from California Virtual Academies, has emerged victorious in our K12 Minecraft Education Build Challenge.

These talented 8th graders have shown exceptional creativity and teamwork, earning them the honor of being invited to compete on the ISTE stage in Denver, CO, this June. We’re excited to see them represent their school and their state at this prestigious event.

An official invitation with all the details has been sent to the winning team via email from [email protected]. We can’t wait to celebrate their achievement and watch as they take their skills to the next level at ISTE.

Winning team from each school announced.

Teams will have 24 hours to build based on a new prompt.

May 1

Winning team announced.

June 23-26

The winning team competes at the ISTE Conference in Denver, CO.

Two Rounds of Competition

Round 1: Build & Submit

Each team will have five days (March 25-29, 2024) to complete and submit their build related to this theme: 

Build an environmentally friendly city that allows humans and animals to thrive and/or cohabitate in an environment simultaneously and cohesively.

The winners will be announced on April 5, 2024.

The winning team from each school will advance to Round 2 of the competition.

Round 2: Compete

Winners from Round 1 will compete against the Round 1 winners from other K12-powered schools.

Teams will have 24 hours to complete their build once provided with the new prompt for Round 2.

The top team from Round 2 will be selected as K12’s winner—and win a trip to Denver to compete in person.

Judging Criteria

A panel of judges will determine the winning entrant team in each round based on creativity, adherence to theme, and complexity.

Please review the rules and regulations related to Minecraft Education Build Challenge. These terms and conditions must be agreed to upon registering.

Prizes

The Round 2 winning team members will receive a paid trip-including commercial air travel, conference tickets, and hotel room for the students and (1) chaperone—to Denver, Colorado, to represent K12 in person in the Minecraft Education Build Challenge at the ISTE Conference in June 2024.
