We’ll explore the ship, fly a drone along the river and share some cool pictures and videos from the expedition. Joe will also have a camera set up to try and showcase some of the bird/river life that may pass by during the live lesson. Join us for a K12 Virtual Field Trip to the National Kiwi Hatchery! Over the years the Hatchery has grown to become the largest and most successful kiwi hatching facility in the world, successfully incubating and hatching brown kiwi eggs from around the North Island. They receive eggs from 15 sanctuaries and reserves around the North Island and have hatched over 1850 eggs at the facility. Their work has helped the North Island population of the brown kiwi considerably and The National Kiwi Hatchery has also provided an ideal facility for the continuation of research into kiwi eggs and chicks.

Join us for a K12 Virtual Field Trip through Shara Hughes’ “Inside Outside” exhibition at the Norton. Students will explore paintings and ceramics that invite them to look inward and outward, reflecting both personal emotions and imaginative places.

FAQ

A K12 Virtual Field Trip is a free online enrichment experience that allows students to virtually explore different places or activities from the comfort of their own homes. K12 partners with Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) and Exploring by the Seat of Pants, in addition to other groups such as the Norton Museum of Art and Linden Hall Farm, to bring these unique virtual experiences to students.

K12 Virtual Field Trips are open to all students in grades K-12. Students do not have to attend a K12-powered school to participate in a K12 Virtual Field Trip. Please note that students under the age of 13 will need a parent or guardian to register on their behalf. Individual students and classroom or homeschool groups are welcome to join. Parents, guardians, and teachers can register on behalf of their students or classes. Family members are welcome to join in and experience the virtual field trip alongside their students.
